God’s Work of creating, redeeming and sanctifying

For Religious Education, our class learnt about Creating, Redeeming and Sanctifying means. We created images that related to these words. I have drawn mountains that represent creating. The cross represents redeeming, and lastly,  a Bible that represents sanctifying.

An Image Representing the Holy Trinity

On Monday the 27th, Ms George, our teacher, said we will be creating our own image of the Trinity. We had to use our creative thinking of how we could design our own version, and how we see the Trinity at our point of view. I have created a flower representing the Trinity. Each text box shows the meaning of each component.

Modeling Clay – Pennies For Hitler ( Library Destruction )

Room 8 is reading a book called Pennies for Hitler by Jackie French. We have picked a scene where the library is destroyed into chunky piles of rubble. Our rationale for this scene is that George loved visiting the library as it was his safe space where he felt everything was normal. My favourite part about sculpting was making the skulls of the deceased out of clay.

Manukau Outrigger Canoe Club – Waka Ama

On Wednesday 15th of March,  year 7 and 8 students had gone on a trip where we learnt how to ride on a canoe and how to use oars. We arrived at school in uniform and changed into our swimming gear.  Our two teachers; Mrs George and Mr Bell had been our supervisors the whole trip. We were traveling by bus to get there.  It was a long and short trip to go but it was worth the drive.  We finally arrived at our destination. All of us were very excited to learn and experience new things.

We had a teacher instruct us how to use oars and learn the commands that the captain was going to give to us. We started the day with ten people on each side of the canoe and one teacher with each group. The groups had gone for a twenty minute lesson with the instructors. We had finished the lessons with races. The instructors wanted to see what skills we have learnt so far and how we could use them in the water.

We had gone back to the dock to take the canoes back to the club.  It took everyone to put a lot of effort to pull and push the canoes back.  We had changed out of our swimming gear and changed into our clothes. It took us about fifteen minutes to change because most of the students have been mucking around. We had finally finished changing and walked up the hill to go to the bus and it drove back to school.

My day at Waka Ama was a thrilling day to me because it was my first time riding a canoe and using an oar. Thank you instructors for the opportunity to have a day learning whilst having fun.

Diary Entry – Pennies For Hitler

Diary Entry

As I leave Elizabeth, I cry sombre tears. I walk further and further away from this depressing, unhappy place. I keep walking along the dry, dirty path. I look up and see the sky. A grey, black-ish, white colour with flames dancing through the trees. The same trees that have ruled all of England.

I hurry to our flat to see if the flat is safe or is it in pieces? Am I safe right now? I ask myself so many questions. My head is a crazy mess. I take a second to get myself together and think. I take a deep breath and walk my way to the flat.  I look carefully at my surroundings to check if I am safe or not.  As I am walking, I see people suffering from the toxic gas that is drifting their way, and  people sheltering in Anderson shelters from bombs. Flames from buildings.. Anxiety inside of me and I feel that I am losing hope but I can’t give up now! I have to find Aunt Miriam!

About Me

Talofa Lava, my name is Estherose but I like Esther for short.  I am 13 years old. My siblings and I attend Saint Patrick’s School.  I have two playful active brothers and one hardworking sister.  My hobbies are drawing, cooking with my sister and walking my fluffy dog around the block.  I am a year 8 student at Saint Patrick’s School and my teacher’s name is Ms George.  I have a wonderful class that shows many different qualities like Joy.  I hope you enjoy reading my blog.

Toa Samoa – wave that flag!

Today I have done an activity about the Samoan Flag from the SLJ site. What I have done here is that I have explained some  facts explaining “What do the colours and symbols mean on the Samoan Flag?”. What I enjoyed about this activity is that I got to learn new things like the meanings behind the flag, who created the Samoan flag and so many interesting facts about it. Is it really great to learn about your history and what is the story behind it and what is the meaning of it.

Tamaki Cluster Touch Tournament

On November the 2th our school had a Tamaki Cluster Touch Tournament down at Dunkirk. Our teacher Mr Bell had organized four teams to take down, there was a girls year 7 and 8 team, boys year 7 and 8 team, girls year 7 and boys year 7.

Before the day had come we had some weeks to prepare and train for this tournament. The teams would compete against each other after morning tea and lunch time so we could learn our mistakes on the field and learn good strategies to use when we go to the touch tournament. Mr Bell had given permission slips for the students who will be going to the tournament and who are not going. We had to bring our forms in before the day.

When the day had come we wore our P.E gear ready. Mr Bell checked all the names of the people who were going and checked  them off the list. We had some parents who were supporters and parents who were coaches and supervisors for the teams. We walked down  with the other  parents and teams down to Dunkirk. When we arrived at Dunkirk two families had kindly set up two gazebo and laid out two mats for the students to put on their bags and shoes. The games started after 10.00 am. For all the teams there we could only get to play four games for 10 minutes. Our game started at 10.45 am and we were versing Glen Brae school. When the game was over we had congratulated them for their win of the game, our team was sad but happy to play and have fun with the other team. The day was still going and we had 3 more games to go. At the last game that we played we had versed the other girls team from our school. When the game was finished our team had lost the game but still congratulated the other team for the win. At the end the year 7 and 8 girls team had made to the finals, the rest of the other teams from our school wanted to cheer for them. The game had finished the year 7 and 8 girls team did not win but the Point England girls had won the game and was happy.

The end of the day everyone was tired and drowned but everyone had an awesome day and was so happy to be a part of this tournament and having the opportunity to play. We had a really fun day.

The Greenhouse

Yesterday on the 20th of October our teacher Mr Bell taught us how to lift a line from our writing. What you do first is write a story about something next  identify your favourite sentence copy and paste it into a brand new page and start your brand new story.

Bella could not take the risk of getting terrifying and creeped by someone or something in the dark of the green house. Bella watched over Janice and her other friend Toby; they both wanted to explore the green house and to discover who or what had  abandoned this rusty, dusty old  house. The both of them walked over  to the greenhouse, it took them about three  minutes to four minutes from Bella’s house.

While the both of them were walking, people were walking by them but on the opposite side of the foot path. Janice and Toby looked really confused because when they had stopped in front of the greenhouse people were shocked and scared. Janice and Toby had two people walk up to them and they said “ Don’t you know that the green house was abandoned in 1989 and no one knows if someone or something has passed away during that time or inside the green”.

Toby was getting nervous and anxious at the same time but Janice was feeling confident in herself but when she looked at Toby he didn’t look so good. Toby changed his mind straight away, he really didn’t want to go, Janice didn’t mind because she wanted to go prove herself to Bella and Toby to convince them both it was not that really scary or spoooooky. Janice entered the house  slowly and confident  and looked around for anything that she could use to discover and find objects in different places. While Janice was still in there Toby ran back to Bella’s house and hid under a thick blanket.

Story about 🐷Oolong finds his parents🧐

For three years Oolong and Puar have been friends. They have been travelling the Dragon Ball world together for three years as well as meeting new friends, Tabasaki Rice and his sidekick Takoyaki Greens. Oolong still acts the same as being a coward and being scared to be in a fight but during his travelling he has learned a lot of good from his new friends as well as Puar.

One day Oolong decides that he wants to find his parents who raised him. Oolong knew even when he was a little piggy that he was abandoned by them. When he  was just a piglet his family was rich, they had a big house and many maids and butlers.

This particular night  there was a problem, a group of bad people were trying to steal Oolong and his parents fortune. The bad group of people were trying to use it to make a karate Dojo business only for villains.

This all started when Oolong found a handwritten letter from his parents. In this letter it said:

 “Dear Oolong.”

When you come of age you must read this letter.

When you were little  your parents were in a bad situation. We could not take the risk of them taking our fortune and taking you as well. We have gone on this mission and we need your help to complete this mission to stop these people from creating this Dojo. We will be waiting for you at your home town, Lockwood Village when  you are in your older years.

After Oolong reads the handwritten letter he feels emotional but feels better when  he finds at the back of the letter an old drawing of a map from his parents of where they are. Oolong, Puar, Tabasaki Rice and his sidekick Takoyaki Greens follow the map to help guide them to  Lockwood Village, for two months on this search they have been into many different places but still haven’t found the place of where Oolong’s parents are.

After searching for many days they decide to give up until they see something very familiar: two pigs that look the same height as Oolong but a little bit taller, same eyes and similar faces until Oolong realized it was his parents, by knowing that the men looked like Oolong. Oolong was shocked at first but was filled with happiness and joy as well as his parents. His parents explained everything about what happened to him when he was little and told Oolong what is happening to the mission now.

Oolong, Puar, Tabasaki Rice and Takoyaki Greens finish the mission by moving very fast to catch these bad guys. They search the whole town of Lockwood Village but  still haven’t found these crooks until they see something very bad, a group of people dressed in black and white looking like they are trying to steal from a store called “Treasure Unique” the crooks pop into the store and try and grab everything as they can. Oolong and his friends quickly move fast and use their skills to attack these crooks, after defeating the crooks they get taken into Jail and stay there for 20 years for all the bad crimes they have done during the past.

Oolong and his friends were very happy and jumpy; they returned to Oolong’s parents and told them what happened. Oolong felt very unhappy till Tabasaki Rice gave Oolong a check with a lot of money, Oolong’s parents were thankful as well as Oolong, Tabaski explained how he got the money off the crooks. Puar, Tabasaki Rice, Takoyaki Greens and Oolong have finished the mission and want to return home, Oolong has his last goodbye but his parents say “ This is not goodbye it’s see you later”, Oolong cheers up and takes off with his friends.
